I used to beat myself up for cleaning the kitchen or organizing my bookshelves when I was supposed to be writing. I viewed it as a character flaw until I realized that this productive procrastination was actually my brain’s way of processing complex ideas in the background. By stepping away from the screen and engaging in a manual task, I was allowing for subconscious problem solving. Now, when I feel a mental block, I don’t force it; I go for a walk or fold laundry, knowing that my best ideas usually arrive when I’m not staring them in the face. Embracing this creative flow state has turned my “laziness” into my most effective time management strategy.
